DANGERS OF SLEEPING WHILE YOUR ENEMY IS AWAKE!

This life is like a battle, we are in a battlefield. This battle is between good and evil, light and darkness. One who is in Christ is in the light or is the light, 'I am the light of the world whoever walks with me will have the light of life and will never walk in darkness '(cf John 8:12). The battle is not against flesh and blood but against principalities and powers (Eph 6:12).

But the issue is that many of us are sleeping. Sleeping, while our enemy is awake and active. Sleeping in a battlefield is like sleeping in a lion's den, you will not wake up alive rather you will wake up in the world of the dead. There are different ways and forms in which we sleep In this battlefield:

1. PRAYERLESSNESS;
A prayerful child of God is a powerful child of God but a prayer less child of God as Fr Mbaka rightly said is a powereless child of God. Some of us hardly have time for prayers. This isn't about commenting Amen to every facebook post. When last did you say a heartfelt prayer. Some have formed the habit of paying lip service to spiritual things especially prayers. Watch and pray so you do not fall into temptation (Mtt 26:41).

2. LIVING IN SIN;
This is likened to one eating and dinning with an enemy in his territory. Whoever sins is a slave of sin (John 8:34). Some Christians are living in sin not just committing sin. This means that they have made a particular sin a habit, a part and parcel of their life, a way of life. Some are in the bondage of fornication and they cannot get out because they don't see anything wrong with it. Sexual promiscuity to them is a way of life. "Flee fornication(1Cor 6:18)". Bribery, corruption, lying, indecency, alcohol and drug abuse and the rest of them are some persons way of life.

3. LACK OF SPIRITUAL EXERCISES;
The spirit also needs to be fed just like the body but some of us hardly remember we have a soul to take care of. Some of us hardly read the bible or any spiritual book, we prefer to gather other knowledge other than the knowledge of God. "My people perish because of lack of knowledge "(Hosea 4:6). Some hardly go to church and listen to the word of God or gather for any spiritual activity except that of Sunday worship. And even on those Sundays they hardly participate actively. Some of our youths go to church simply for fashion exhibition, some whatsapp, 2go and ping right inside the church especially when the Minister is preaching. This I have witnessed several times. But we do know that "Faith comes by hearing the word(Roms 10:17)". But how can their faith grow when they don't listen to the word.

Stay alert! Watch out for your great enemy, the devil. He prowls around like a roaring lion, looking for whom to devour(1Peter 5:8).

Now you cannot be sleeping while your enemy is awake and trying to devour your, to tear you apart, to tear you from your destiny, from your possession!

"AWAKE, O SLEEPER
RISE UP FROM THE DEAD,
AND CHRIST WILL GIVE YOU LIGHT."
(Eph 5:14)
